Course Description: This is intended to be a middle-school course that will meld together the physical and political geographical study of our world along with some cultural context. This course will take us from North America around the world to Antarctica in 32 weeks. The goal is to make it as interactive as possible while allowing the students to take ownership of their studies. The students will be expected to complete homework on time and take tests periodically. The use of stories from teenagers from around the world will be incorporated in the form of videos. The videos used will help the student be more aware of the reality of their world. This course will use maps, charts, texts and audiovisual content to fully engage the student in the learning process. There will be two mini-projects, Christmas around-the-world and a deeper dive into a country of their choice. By the end of the year each student should have a working knowledge of the world around them physically, politically and culturally.
